Undersong' is the latest album from Scottish folk trio Salt House.
Over a year ago there was a change in the line-up of Scottish band Salt House.
Singer songwriter Jenny Sturgeon joined Ewan MacPherson (Shooglenifty) and violist/fiddler Lauren MacColl (RANT) to complete the new lineup.
This excellent album is a collection of ten songs, many from their own writing, and some new settings of old words.
Quality storytelling and unique musical arrangements.
The album was recorded in the restored Telford Church, Ruisgarry, Berneray, Outer Hebrides by Andy Bell (Martin Simpson, Songs of Separation, Furrow Collective).
Digifile case with artwork featuring original painting by Ellis O'Connor.
Includes a 12 page booklet with lyrics.
Salt House are: Lauren MacColl (viola, fiddle, backing vocals, shruti box) Ewan MacPherson (6 and 12 string guitars, vocals, mandolin, jaw harp, kalimba), Jenny Sturgeon (vocals, harmonium, guitar).
"This music was captured over a week in a beautifully restored Telford church on the Hebridean Island of Berneray. An inspiring and special place" - Salt House.
Undersong - 'The ambient, murmuring sound of a landscape; a subtlety of sound which gives a location a sense of place.
'The accompanying strain of a song, its underlying meaning'
