Description
(April 2003)
Piper Donald Lindsay plays the tunes of his kinsman, Alex Muir.
For many years a minister in the far north and the islands, Alex started to compose hymns in the Scottish folk style in 1983, and then new tunes for the Metrical Psalms and Paraphrases. Now retired from the ministry, he’s still writing religious and secular tunes, many of which appear on this album.
Donald’s playing, on Highland pipes and on Scottish smallpipes, is beautifully suited to the nature of the tunes * gentle, traditional, and yet with a strong drive beneath.
Donald is joined by Stuart Glasgow (guitar), Celine Donoghue (fiddle, vocals), and Keith Easdale (cittern, whistle).
