A singer-songwriter whose songs conjure up vivid images of Scottish life - full of wit, perceptive, tender, filled with off-the-wall images.
Peter's songs have the politics of Billy Bragg, the edge and wit of Loudon Wainwright, the dark romance of Jacques Brel and the accent of Billy Connolly. What shines through is the unique talent of Peter Nardini, brush-artist and wordsmith.
On his fifth album, Peter is joined by a select group of musicians, led by producer Mike Katz, best known for his role as bagpiper and multi-instrumentalist with Scottish traditional music legends Battlefield Band.
Peter Nardini (vocals, harmonica, guitar), Mike Katz (guitar, ebow, mandolin, bass, bouzouki, piano, whistles, melodica, backing vocals, percussion) Mike Whelland (harmonica, percussion, backing vocals) Alasdair White (fiddle) Ewen Henderson (backing vocals) Ken Donaldson (guitar) Gavin Livingston (guitar) John McCusker (fiddle, accordion, whistle) Robin Morton (bodhran).
"With an artist's eye for detail and a poet's ear for the rhythms of speech, he finds his own voice in the local accent of his Lanarkshire home. In this album, as in all his work, two central recurring threads are woven through the songs: the hilarity, often unintended, of people's lives, and beautifully observed vignettes of the human situation." (Ken Donaldson)
