Description

A selection of iconic scenes of Oban's past and present from the archive of Dennis Hardley.

For over four decades Dennis Hardley was one of Scotland's foremost Landscape Photographers, his iconic imagery capturing the very essence of the scenes that lay before him.

Born in Liverpool in 1940, Dennis, together with his wife and young family moved up to Scotland in the early 1970s leaving stable employment at British Aerospace with a determination and burning ambition to become a professional landscape photographer.

Over the four decades that followed, Dennis's images appeared in a wide variety of media and publications in the UK and worldwide, ranging from Calendars, Tourist & Transport Posters, Retail Products and Record/CD Sleeves.

His work also adorned many magazine covers from Scottish Field, Life And Work and The Scots Magazine with over 60 front covers on The Scots Magazine alone. Dennis's images also appeared in 13 successful pictorial books on Scotland published by B.T. Batsford, Paragon and Lomond in the UK, and for Barnes And Noble in the US.

Dennis sadly passed away on the 26th of April 2016 at the age of 76, but his legacy lives on through his vision.
