The Boston-born son of Irish immigrants, Joe is among the finest button accordionists in the history of Celtic music.
He is also a somewhat elusive legend in the genre. Winner of NEA National Heritage Fellowship, this album captures him at the height of his creativity.
No one sounds like Joe Derrane, nor has as significant an impact on the rising generation of aspiring button accordion virtuosos.
"A genius of a musician..." (Mick Moloney)
"Nothing short of miraculous..." (Earle Hitchner)
