Description
(June 2002) 12 tracks (54 mins)
Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies are still turning up the good old folksy, thought-provoking songs. This album features love songs with a bitter twist, songs of opportunities missed and lost, the horrors of badger-baiting and political sin.
Their first new studio release since the critically acclaimed Parish Notices recording was released in 1998, Honesty Box contains twelve new songs featuring Jez with Bad Pennies Judy Dinning, Simon Haworth and Kate Bramley as well as special guests Sam Pirt, Andy May and Jeff Armstrong.
Recorded at Trinity Heights Studio in the UK by Fred Purser, this recording demonstrates the band's versatility and broad talent with a number of different styles. All of the songs are Jez Lowe originals with Skin Too Thin a co-write with former Bad Penny Bev Sanders.
This CD proves again that Jez Lowe is one of England's finest writers, an artist with the rare talent to write songs about specific North East English characters and situations, while applying universal truths which strike chords of familiarity the world over.
