The evacuation of St Kilda in 1930 provides the backdrop for this remarkable moving, musical and visual journey on the theme of home.

The story in this sister project to "The Island Tapes" is told with contemporary and archive film alongside the thoughts and memories of St Kildan, Norman John Gillies, who acts as narrator.

The St Kilda Tapes features two Scottish Screen Archive films ("St Kilda - Britain's Loneliest Isle" and "A New Way To A New World"), as well as some new specially created video, and a few other surprises.

The project takes the audience on an emotional and thought provoking journey from the lonely Atlantic island to Glasgow, New York and Canada, before a triumphant and poignant return to St Kilda.

David skilfully mixes journalism, cinematic soundscapes, video and music to great effect. Added to that are the stunning gaelic vocals of Maeve MacKinnon.

The audio CD has an hour of excellent music and 100 minutes of extraordinary video footage on the DVD...a journey you will not want to miss!

The double-sided DVD is 16:9 widescreen, region-free, with UK PAL on one side and North American NTSC format on the other.

David Allison (guitar, ukulele, zither), Maeve MacKinnon (vocals and kazoo), Norman John Gillies (recorded thoughts and musings).

"Deeply moving ...excellent music." Celtic Connection Vancouver

"David Allison's beautiful music enriched without detracting from the films." Jennie MacFie, Hi-Arts.
