Under their banner 'Forward With Scotland's Past', Battlefield Band has been performing for more than three decades, mixing old songs and tunes with self-penned material, playing them on a unique fusion of ancient and modern instruments. Over these years they have played with and introduced many fine musicians to their ever widening worldwide audience.

This will be their 20th album for Temple Records, and the second album featuring the talents of Alan Reid (vocals, keyboards, accordion), Mike Katz (Highland pipes, smallpipes, whistles, bass, guitar), Alasdair White (fiddle, bouzouki, mandolin, whistles) and Irish interest Pat Kilbride (vocals, guitar, cittern).

The 12 studio tracks plus 3 bonus live tracks feature traditional and newly composed material by members of the band, as well as a tune by fiddler John Sheehan (The Dubliners) and a great song from Henry McCullough (ex-Sweeney's Men and Wings). Some music from Brittany is added to the pot for good measure.

In 2003, Battlefield Band were voted Best Live Act in the first annual Scots Trad Awards, in association with the BBC.

"...they've made an album that meets the stringent standards of the band's celebrated forerunners. The instrumentals and songs flow with genuine flare and style and collectively they knit the Scottish tradition into a sound that is still fresh, alert and relevant and belies their veteran status - no tricks, no gimmicks, just very fine music". (MOJO - of their Sept 2002 album Time and Tide)
