A debut album from Gaelic singer Steven MacIomhair.
Steven was born in a small village on the West Coast of Scotland, Naast, near Poolewe.
The album 'Cladaich Loch Iù' was inspired primarily by songs from his own part of the world and other well-known Gaelic songs.
He competed in both local and National Mod and at 12 years of age, he won the James C MacPhee Memorial Medal in 1999, followed only 10 years later with the coveted An Comunn Gàidhealach Gold Medal.
Steven MacIomhair (vocals), Alistair Iain Paterson (piano), Aidan Moodie (guitar), Ali M Levack (whistle), Charlie Stewart (fiddle, double bass), Kirsteen Menzies (backing vocals), James Graham (backing vocals), Tom Orr (accordion), John Lowrie (percussion).
"I have known Steven for many years and have watched him develop into a fine young man whose musical ability has grown in stature. This recording is the culmination of his enthusiasm for Gaelic music and the language of the Gael. He has a singing voice of a lyrical quality which is so complimented by the modern accompaniments to his choice of Gaelic songs bringing a refreshing approach to the music of the Gael compiled on this album." Hamish Menzies.
