An excellent self-titled debut album by piper, pianist and whistle player Chris Gray.
His album is brimming with hugely energised and creative compositions rooted in the tradition of folk music.
Recorded in early 2019, with Calum MacCrimmon as co-producer, the album features a multi-instrumental ensemble.
Chris is accompanied by a stellar cast of some of the best of British folk artists.
All tracks/tunes composed and arranged by Chris Gray.
Chris Gray (Highland Bagpipes, whistles, piano), Graham Mackenzie (fiddle, violin (tracks 1, 2 & 6), Innes White (acoustic guitar, electric guitar (tracks 1, 9 & 10), James Lindsay (bass, Moog (tracks 5, 6, 7 & 9), Mark Scobbie (drums), Alice Allen (cello (tracks 1, 2, 5 & 6), Laura-Beth Salter (mandolin (tracks 4, 8 & 10), Mohsen Amini (concertina (tracks 6 & 9
"Not only does Gray overcome the borders of genres, but his compositions come from many different inspirations, notably from his contacts with other countries like Sweden, Slovakia, Malawi and Oman. The overall impression is artistic sensitivity, his music flowing in a natural and stimulating way, with all the members of the line-up contributing to underline the musical quality of the tunes, many of which will surely become firm favourites for low whistle players and even for pipers." Michele Mele, bright young folk.
