"Listen to the second set, which sails seamlessly through waltzes and a Breton tune, to slip into exuberant overdrive..." The Scotsman.

"The Roke is a fresh take on highland pipes, a clean slate on which Ross Miller has laid out a sharing platter of traditional tunes and several of his own, with arrangements inspired by a number of different styles but all in keeping with contemporary pipe band tastes." Alex Monaghan, The Living Tradition.

"This is a work that truly reflects the journey that this young but already deeply accomplished piper has been making in his early career. It shows a comfortable mastery of all the ceol beag elements: jigs, reels, marches, and other forms of music are delivered with the skillful touch of a veteran of the instrument. (the bright young folk review).

"This album has been years in the making, I've been writing tunes and putting sets together for years with a variety of different groups but I felt that the time had come to record my music and release it into the world. The recording process was spaced out over three months and the sound evolved so much into what you hear on the CD. I am over the moon with the way it has turned out and I am hugely grateful to everyone who has supported me through the process either musically, financially, or just generally being there to listen to my constant thinking out loud!" Ross Miller.
