A seventh superb album from supergroup Daimh.

Their first studio recording in five years, The Rough Bounds is released exactly 20 years on from their first ever concert.

Translated from the Gaelic Na Garbh Chriochan, The Rough Bounds is the area of West Lochaber where Dàimh was formed.

Still based in the area, the band's roots remain firmly tied to the region by the enduring connections of the three remaining founding members.

Angus MacKenzie( highland pipes /border pipes /whistles), Ellen MacDonald (gaelic song), Gabe McVarish (fiddles), Murdo Cameron (accordion, mandola), Ross Martin (guitars), Alasdair White (fiddles).

Guest Musicians: Martin O'Neill [bodhran 1,2,9], Duncan Lyall [double bass 3,8,10], Signy Jakobsdottir [percussion 3,10], Kathleen MacInnes [backing vocals 3,10], Calum Alex MacMillan [backing vocals 10], Ewen Henderson [backing vocals 3,10].

"The Rough Bounds is filled with Daimh's typically rich, skilful arrangements. Those arrangements are never over-worked, though – they are as varied and, at times, as breath-taking as the corner of Gaeldom that is the band's home, and from which the album takes its name. From the Gaelic Na Garbh Chrìochan, The Rough Bounds covers the North Morar and Moidart peninsulas. It's an area of wild country, steeped in history. 20 years into their own history, Daimh's reputation as writers and interpreters of traditional Gaelic music, for a contemporary audience, goes from strength to strength. With each successive release, Daimh seem to exceed their aspirations, creating and recording peerless new music. The Rough Bounds is an exceptional album, from an exceptional band." Neil McFadyen, Folk Radio.

"There's always a strong involvement with an album from Daimh – the inspired musicianship, the haunting vocals, the mix of tradition with innovation – and 'The Rough Bounds' is no exception. Taking its title from the area of West Lochaber where Daimh started and where legend and history combine to create a land rich in music and stories, that's what you get with THE-ROUGH BOUNDS ALBUM COVER this album, a richness of music and narrative blending finely arranged tradition with carefully crafted originals to deliver a wide-ranging variety of focuses from drinking and fighting, to heartbreak and vanishing at sea." Charlie Elland, Folk Words.
